Middle Tennessee has a great array of public and private golf courses. For now we will talk about those in where the public can play and maybe even some where homes can be purchased on or near the course.
Kings Creek Golf Club is on the northern tip of Maury county, just
south of the Williamson County line. It is an Arnold Palmer design and a semi private club. It is a challenging layout intertwined around creeks and can challenge the most strident golfer and the up tees can make it fun for everyone. One of the area’s best pros teaches here at the Nancy Quarcelino School of Golf, which has received many accolades in area golf publications.
Heading north to Franklin along Lewisburg Pike and Mack Hatcher Pkwy is Forrest Crossing Golf Course. A challenging layout and a great driving range. There is frequent play but weekdays there is reasonable availability.
Still heading north and toward the north end of Mack Hatcher Pkwy there is Cheekwood Golf Club in Franklin. This is a little 9 hole gem. Big hitters leave your driver in the bag and the rest of us will only need it on about two holes. This is a great family outing and the treed fairways place a premium on accuracy over length. Don’t be fooled by its lack of length. Accuracy is at a premium here. Hit is straight or score big.
Adjacent to Franklin Rd and Mack Hatcher Pkwy is The Little Course of Tennessee. It is also adjacent to Vanderbilt’s Legends Golf Club and their incomparable practice facility. The Little Course is
hosted at the Golf House of Tennessee. It is a 9 hole course for sharpening your short game or getting the kids and grand kids in the swing of things. They offer summer golf camps and has been the host of the “Minnie Vinnie” golf tournament sponsored for kids that would not otherwise get the opportunity by Country Music and Opry Legend Vince Gill. This course will whet their appetite and give them a taste of gold history in the Golf House museum. Start at the museum then take them out for a round with them. Three or four generations can enjoy the game on this course. There is no better a place to bring the generations together.
